Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes Marcus Rashford and Kylian Mbappe prediction ahead of Man Utd vs PSG

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has predicted fireworks when Marcus Rashford and Kylian Mbappe face off at Old Trafford.

French phenom Mbappe, 20, and United’s in-form strike star Rashford will be hoping to strike first when Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain do battle in the Champions League last 16.

Both players were handed rests at the weekend.

Mbappe was only used as a sub by coach Thomas Tuchel in PSG’s 1-0 win over Bordeaux, while England international Rashford was an unused substitute as United eased past Fulham .

Rashford has been starring under Solskjaer

That allowed United’s No.10 to see off a dead leg suffered in the win over Leicester , ensuring he is fully recovered for the clash with the French champions.

And with both young stars raring to go as Europe’s premier club competition resumes, United’s caretaker boss Solskjaer is tipping big things to take place on Tuesday night.

Mbappe makes his first appearance at Old Trafford

“There will understandably be comparisons. I have seen Mbappe live only once and working with Marcus every single day he’s going to be a top quality player," said the Norwegian.

“I love working with him. I am sure PSG will look at Marcus the way we look at Mbappe – he’s one of the main threats.

“Mbappe had a fantastic rise to stardom, he’s got a fantastic smile about him, a great enthusiasm.

Solskjaer is looking forward to taking on Mbappe and PSG

“Strikers don’t really dominate football, but the pair of them will have a massive impression on football for the next 10 years.

"They will really light it up.”

Mbappe is set to lead the line for PSG without usual running mates Neymar and Edinson Cavani.

The Brazilian is out until at least March with a fractured metatarsal, while Cavani suffered a hip injury on Saturday.

But Italian midfielder Marco Verratti is set to start, having played 30 minutes at the weekend.
